2. Equipment Test Inland Vessel

2.3 Human-Machine Interface

To increase the acceptance of the automated inland vessel, the graphical interface to be developed for the visualization of intended behavior as well as of considered intentions of other vessels is of central importance. The planned ship movements as well as the detected movements of the other ships are passed on to the man-machine interface. This enables the responsible shipmaster to evaluate the coming behavior of the automated vehicle, also in order to intervene or take over if necessary. The human-machine interface on the bridge shows the skipper in advance how the ship will behave in the next few minutes, making it easier for him to assess the behavior of the automated vessel.
